What is a second class airman license? Can you flight as a student pilot with it?

You bet you can. Assuming you’re not talking about light sport aircraft, you need a minimum of a 3rd class medical certificate. 2nd class is needed for commercial operations and 1st is needed for airline captains. Those are the requirements set out by the faa, but many employers and insurance companies have other requirements. If you can qualify for a 1st class medical then get it, if you’re under 40 years old it shouldn’t cost more (over 40 you need an EKG, which will cost a bit more) and its nice to be able to tell a perspective employer in an interview that you have had a first class medical since you began flying. You DO need a medical certificate to solo as a student pilot, it acts as your “license” until you pass your check ride. A 3rd class meets all the requirements for a student pilot to solo, so does a 2nd or 1st class. With light sport all you need is a valid drivers license and you must “self certify” you are medically fit to fly an airplane.
