What is a School Travel Plan and why should we do one?
A School Travel Plan (STP) involves the whole school community and is a document which sets out a package of practical measures or initiatives for improving children’s safety on the school journey and for reducing the number of car trips made to a school or group of schools. Increased use of the car for the school journey can result in more pollution, congestion, obesity and fitness concerns. Producing a School Travel Plan can help the environment by encouraging reduced car use and helps children and parents become fitter, healthier and more alert by walking or cycling to school.
