What is a scale inhibitor?
In the areas that have hard water a scale inhibitor is used to protect the heating appliances, they can be a chemical filled container, a magnetic capsule or an electronic unit, all these units are plumbed usually into the cold water supply before it enters the unit that heats the water, it is not necessary to treat the cold water outlets as lime scale will not build up in any significant quantities and this will both reduce the size of the unit and in the case of the chemical units reduce the running costs.
