What is a Ronald McDonald House and how did it get started?
A Ronald McDonald House is a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill children who have had to travel to receive treatment at children’s hospitals in the United States and other countries. The first House opened in October 1974 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Since that time, the Ronald McDonald House program has expanded across the U.S. and around the world. Each Ronald McDonald House offers all the comforts of home- private guest rooms and bathrooms, communal kitchen and dining areas, laundry facilities, play rooms, playgrounds, TV and computer areas, and more!
