What is a ROIO?
ROIO (alternatively, RoIO) is an acronym meaning “Record of Illegitimate Origin” or “Record of Indeterminate Origin.” It is used by album collectors as an alternative term for bootleg when referring to unofficial music recordings. Collectors use the term to distinguish between “true” bootlegs, which are illicit copies of officially-released albums, and tracks or recordings whose legal status is difficult or even impossible to determine.
