What is a restricted database and how do I know which ones are restricted?

Cornell University Library subscribes to numerous fee-based electronic resources. Remote use of these databases is “restricted” to members of the Cornell Community (faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students). No exceptions are made. Cornell needs to restrict access to some databases due to our contractual agreements with the vendors of these resources. However, anyone using a computer from inside of one of the Cornell Libraries has on-site access to most resources and materials that are needed for professional or scholarly research purposes. Exceptions include subscription-based resources, such as Capital IQ, Euromonitor Passport, Gartner, Mintel and Wharton Research Data Service (WRDS). These databases all require a Net ID that indicates you are a current Cornell faculty, student or staff..
