What is a (religious) retreat?
A. 1. In the religious and spiritual sense, when a person says that he is going to a retreat, he means that he is withdrawing from society to a quiet place for prayer, study, to reflect or to meditate. It is a special time of solitude and silence to engage in adoration or religious exercises. It usually covers a period of a few days and it usually held at a religious house. Retreats help those who are soul searching, assisting them in finding their purpose in life such as a religious vocation. Retreats also serve the purpose of spiritual growth, improving one’s closeness with God, taking the time to listen and hear God’s voice in one’s heart.
