What is a Rehabilitation Advisor under section 440.15, Florida Statutes?
Research by the Bureau indicates it was not the intent of the legislature to create a new category called “rehabilitation advisor” separate or independent from qualified rehabilitation providers. Furthermore, section 440.491, Florida Statutes, clearly states that only qualified rehabilitation providers listed in the Bureau’s directory of qualified rehabilitation providers may be authorized to provide any services including expert testimony under section 440.491, Florida Statutes. Thus, it is the Bureau’s position that a rehabilitation advisor cannot offer services under section 440.491, Florida Statutes, or expert witness testimony of rehabilitation issues, unless that person is a qualified rehabilitation provider under section 440.491, Florida Statutes.
