What is a regional recall?
A regional recall is a pernicious bit of subterfuge where by an automobile or truck manufacturer can limit its exposure to a recall by declaring the defect to be locally caused by some such nonsense as road conditions, driving habits, weather and the like. A good example, besides the Chevy Silverado brake problem is a defect experience Ford 500s which allegedly occurs only in cold weather. In both cases the defect has been reported by people far outside the so-called sphere influenced by the conditions that cause the defect.
