What Is A Red Tailed Catfish?
A red tailed catfish usually grows up to 4 inch long and it does need a fairly large tank to swim around in. If you are thinking of keeping one then you need to keep in mind that all of the filtration and heaters should be placed outside of the tank. It is often difficult to sex this type of catfish though it is thought that the males may have a slightly deeper red coloured tail. It is a carnivorous fish and in the wild it would be used to eating things such as fish and crabs but it does occasionally eat fruit too. A good diet you can feed them is cockles and muscles as well as whitebait. However when the fish grows up it would be a good idea to give it slightly large fish to eat.
