What is a Recording Equipment Usually Equiped with?

Most professional studios are equipped with a large format console (the mixer.) From there you can usually route the audio signals to whatever you are recording to (the tape machine or computer.) Since tape is very expensive, we usually go to the computer. If you want to use Pro Tools, you will need Digidesign interfaces (192s) and the Core and Accell cards that go in the computer, making the console able to “talk” to the computer. As far as the other gear, most studios have an assortment of mic pres, compressors, reverbs, and EQs. Also, there is something called the patchbay where you can route signals to anywhere in the studio. For example, you could have a mic plugged in in the studio, patch it to a mic pre, patch to a compessor, and the to your tape machine or computer. Hope I helped!!!
