When you apply to colleges, you will most likely be required to submit at least one to three letters of recommendation from your high school. A letter of recommendation is a letter (usually from your high school college counselor or teachers who taught you in your junior or senior year) to the admissions committees saying that you are either an excellent or a poor candidate for that college. Obviously, you want to get good recommendations from your teachers, so you need to pick teachers who you are close to or know pretty well. During your senior year, you will approach generally two teachers who you’ve had recently or have at the time (again, only teachers from your junior or senior year) and ask politely if they would please write you a letter of recommendation for a specific college or for the Common Application.
