What is a reasonable incentive for employee referrals when filling roles?

This was selected as Best Answer At the end of the day the incentive needs to be worth enough to make the employee see thw value – a staggered payment is a good way to run it and either cash or vouchers work. But the thing to remember is the value has to be greater then the work load required… but also big enough for people to remember. I know of one firm who pay £10,000 cash for refferals because their usual cost of hiring through recruiters is £25,000 They make a big deal about it i.e. suitcase and champagne – this makes it one of the most memorable I know.
