Basically what we mean by Realism is what the artist did mostly before the invention of the camera. That means showing whatever later on cameras started to capture. This doesn’t mean that after the camera was invented some artists didn’t continue to do that. They painted landscapes, still lifes, portraits and so forth all of that that are in a realistic manner. For instance in this work what we see is what we can practically sit on the table and look at it or take a picture of it. In this instance the artist painter has decided to paint it. Whereas in this painting although everything looks real you have a duck looking real, you have marine birds looking real and so forth since they are placed in an unnatural context this isn’t realism anymore.
