WHAT IS A RADIAL TIRE?
The difference between a traditional tyre and a (more expensive) radial tyre basically lies in the arrangement of the plies which form the tyre structure: below the outer rubber layer, are the plies which make up the tyre structure. These plies can be crossed (e.g. at 45) in conventional tyres, or all aligned in the same direction (parallel to the wheel axis) in radial tyres, obtaining increased rigidity and a uniformly distribution of strengths: the tread shape is more stable. Increasingly high quality and safety standards have recently encouraged the production of radial-ply tyres instead of traditional tyres.
