What is a qualified high-deductible health plan?
A qualified health-deductible health plan is a health plan with an annual deductible for an individual (a member) or a family (a member and covered dependents) that meet the minimum deductible amount published annually by the U.S. Treasury Department. The annual out-of-pocket expenses required by the high-deductible health plan do not exceed the out-of-pocket maximums published by the U.S. Treasury Department. Out-of-pocket expenses include deductibles, co-payments and other amounts the member must pay for, but do not include premiums or amounts incurred for non-covered benefits.
