What is a puppy raiser ? How do I become a puppy raiser?
CCI pups have a very special destiny to assist a person with a disability in leading a more fulfilling and independent life. For these puppies to achieve their potential, they must grow up in a loving environment and be exposed to a variety of stimulating experiences. CCI puppies are raised by volunteers from 8 weeks of age until they are about 13 to 18 months old. Puppy Raisers provide house training, teach basic obedience skills, and attend puppy training classes. Puppy raisers provide basic necessities such as food, shelter, veterinary care, discipline and, of course, lots of love! Many Puppy Raisers bring their puppies with them to work, to do grocery shopping or even make a doctors visit. This helps the dog become accustomed to various activities such as riding in a car, waiting patiently under a desk, or staying calm in an active environment.
