What is a Public ODBC Collection?
The concept of a Public collection stems from the Verity security model. It is typically meant to provide public access to Verity collections. In the case of a Public ODBC collection, the Public access, or no authentication, only refers to the search user’s context. Behind the scenes, the ODBC gateway accesses a collection designated as Public using the super user credentials. So the ODBC repository is still secured and accessed with the super user credentials, but to the search user, the collection appears to be publicly accessible.
