What is a PS file?

A postscript print to disk file or PS file is a file created to be printed remotely from another device. The document file would be printed in the usual way except that the print to file option is checked in the print dialog box. This file is then sent to the printing facility and downloaded to their printer. There is no worry about font substitutions or elements moving out of place. This file consists of printer code. The catch is that the document must be created with a postscript printer as the intended output device and everything must be exactly as it will print. This kind of file cannot be opened and modified by the printing facility.
