What Is A Protocol Token Ring?

0

The Token Ring protocol is a network layer protocol, whereby computers are connected in a circle. Each computer sends a data packet onto the ring only when it has the token. This removes the need for collision detection that Ethernet has to deal with. Its downside is that it requires a completed physical circular network, unlike Ethernet which can cater for all sorts of shapes – such as lines and stars.
