What is a programme fee degree?
A programme fee degree is one that is based on set tuition per term and a residency requirement, rather than individual cost per course. For example, an MA is normally a one year programme fee degree where a full time student would be required to be registered and on-campus for three consecutive terms (1 academic year), and be assessed a set amount of programme fees, or tuition, for each term. At the end of the three terms of programme fees, if the degree requirements are not complete, the student would change to continuing status and pay continuing fees for consecutive terms until degree completion. Almost all graduate degrees are programme-feed, and include the following: LLM, JSD, MA, MSC, PHD, MArchPP, MASc, MBA (10 month only), MCSc, MACSc, MEC, MEDS, MEng, MES, MLIS, MMM, MN, and all combined programmes. If you are not sure whether your degree is a programme fee degree, contact your department or the Faculty of Graduate Studies to make sure.
