What is a proctor?
A proctor is a person designated to administer exams. For Franklin University classes, your proctor must be approved by your instructor. The SLC provides proctoring services for Franklin students who live in central Ohio. Distance students must select a proctor in their home area. We suggest testing sites, colleges, universities, community colleges, libraries, military outposts (if applicable), or your human resource department (if applicable). Proctor Guidelines. How do I find a proctor? For central Ohio students, you may take out-of-class tests at the Student Learning Center’s Main Campus location, or at the Dublin Testing Center. Other students should select a proctor near their home town. Many Franklin University Community College Alliance (CCA) schools provide proctoring services for Franklin students. If you are not near a CCA school, contact a local community college or university in your area. Please refer to the following link National College Testing Association’s Consortium
The primary responsibility of the proctor is to ensure that that the test is given to the standards and conditions outlined in VGI’s “Classroom Procedures for Proctors – 3rd Edition”. Proctors must certify to the implementation of the module’s specified procedure. All proctors must be registered with VGI prior to any testing session. Our agreement with the EPA requires that there be a minimum of one proctor in the classroom for each fifty applicants or fraction thereof. Fifty-one applicants for example, would require two proctors.
A proctor is a qualified person willing to monitor your exam. They have a responsibility to facilitate fairness and integrity during testing situations. If you are not able to take an exam at the BYU-Idaho testing center, you will need to make other arrangements with a qualified proctor or testing center. We are in the process of creating a Proctor Certification Form for a Proctor to Qualify.
