What is a Process Technology Operator?
Process technology operators control and monitor the numerous systems that run chemical plants. Operators gather information using instrumentation and lab equipment to help maintain safe work areas and keep plants in compliance with regulatory requirements. They also have the responsibility to make sure the equipment and instrumentation they use run properly. Operators work both indoors and outdoors, shoulder to shoulder with chemical engineers, chemists and other professionals. Operators must use their knowledge of computers, math, physics and chemistry to keep their plant running safely and efficiently. They also need strong communications skills – the ability to write, express views orally and listen – in order to succeed at their jobs. What is P-TEC?
