What is a Process Modeling Environment (PME)?
A PME is essentially a software environment that supports the construction of a process model either from first-principles or from libraries of existing models, or both. They then allow the user to perform a variety of different tasks, such as process simulation or optimization, using this single model of the process. To achieve their latter function, this category of process tools incorporates or makes use of several Process Modeling Components.
