What is a Pressure Sensor?

0

A pressure sensor enables the measurement of pressure, usually in gases or liquids. Pressure itself is the unit of measurement of force that is applied to prevent a fluid or gas from expanding. Pressure is commonly stated as force per unit area. Usually the pressure signal is electrical, however optical, visual, and auditory signals are also available. The signal can often be displayed with a Digital Pressure Gauge or Digitial Indicator and can have a multitude of different pressure output signals. Pressure sensors are used for control and monitoring in research and industrial pressure applications. Pressure sensors can also be used to indirectly measure other variables such as fluid/gas flow, speed, water level, and altitude. Some pressure sensors, such as those found in speed cameras only function when pressure is applied to the sensor which then breaks an electrical circuit and operates the application. These pressure sensors are known as a pressure sensor switches. Some Pressure Se
