What is a prerequisite?
A prerequisite is a requirement for prior learning that you must meet before registering in a given course. For example, a Level 1 course might be a prerequisite for a Level 2 course, meaning you must have completed Level 1 successfully before you can take Level 2. Course prerequisites are listed with the course description. If you attempt to register online in a course for which you have not met the prerequisites, you will receive a “Preq & Test Score Error” message. If you are registering by phone or in person, you will be informed by Continuing Education registration staff that there is no record of your completing the prerequisite. If you have questions, please contact the Program Coordinator of your program. On a case by case basis, courses taken at another institution or other prior learning will be considered in lieu of the stated prerequisite.
