What is a premium?

The premium is the amount you pay for the hospital cover or extras cover that you choose. We can change the premiums we charge but only once a year and only with the approval of the Minister for Health. Premium changes come into effect each April. You will be notified of any change before it comes into effect. You must pay the premium that applies to your cover in the state in which you live. This means that if you move, we will adjust your premiums. If your cover is unavailable in the new state, we will transfer your membership to the nearest equivalent cover available in that state.
