What is a pre-existing medical condition?
Any respiratory condition, heart condition, circulatory condition (including hypertension, stroke, transient ischaemic attack), back condition, malignant disease or any psychiatric disorder or mental illness (including stress, anxiety or depression) for which you have ever been diagnosed or received treatment; b) Any disease, illness, injury for which you are expecting to receive or have ever received medication, treatment, surgery or investigation in a hospital, clinic or general practitioner’s surgery unless fully resolved and no longer requiring medication and/or medical supervision.
Pre-existing Medical Condition means: (a) An ongoing medical or dental condition of which you are aware, or related complication you have, or the symptoms of which you are aware; (b)A medical or dental condition that is currently being, or has been investigated, or treated by a health professional (including dentist or chiropractor) at any time in the past, prior to policy purchase; (c)Any condition for which you take prescribed medicine; (d)Any condition for which you have had surgery; (e)Any condition for which you see a medical specialist; or (f)Pregnancy. This definition applies to you, your Travelling Party or a Relative.
A. It is a medical condition, injury, disease, or illness that occurred prior to and including the effective date of your insurance. This condition may apply to you, a traveling companion, a family member, or a business partner. Q. What is a ”look back” period? A. This is the number of days that the insurance company will ”look back” from the date the insurance was purchased to see if your claim is related to a pre-existing medical condition. The ”look back” period varies by company and plan and does not apply if you qualified for the Pre-existing Medical Condition Waiver offered by many plans. Q. What is a Pre-existing Medical Condition Waiver? A. Every policy has a pre-existing medical exclusion, meaning that coverage is not available for pre-existing medical conditions. 1. Any past or current Medical Condition that has given rise to symptoms or for which any form of treatment or prescribed medication, medical consultation, investigation or follow up/check-up has been required or received during the 2 years prior to the commencement of cover under the policy and/or prior to any Trip and 2. any cardiovascular or circulatory condition (e.g. heart condition, hypertension, blood clots, raised cholesterol, stroke, aneurysm) that has occurred at any time prior to the commencement of cover under the policy and/or prior to any Trip. This policy will not cover any claims under Section 1 (Medical Emergency & Repatriation) or Section 5 (Cancellation & Curtailment) arising directly or indirectly from a Pre-existing Medical Condition.
