Most sections of the policy carry an Excess. This is the first amount of any claim that you will have to pay. The amount may vary depending on the level of cover you have chosen. It is applicable per person per section. The Excess will be reduced to NIL if you have used a EHIC (Formally E111) to reduce your medical expenses bill or paid the Excess Waiver premium.

Excess is the amount you must pay towards each and every claim. If claims are made under more than one section of cover, an excess will apply to each section of cover under which a claim is made. Our claims advisors will let you know the amount of the excess that applies for your claim. You’ll also find details of this in your policy schedule. We’ll deduct the amount of the policy excess from the settlement of your claim.

A policy excess is the amount of an insurance claim you must pay if your car is lost, stolen or damaged. You only pay the excess for damage to your own car. You do not have to pay the excess for damage to someone else’s car. Your policy excess will be shown in your policy schedule.
