The pole position means that you’re there on the front row on the inside of the first turn. On an oval obviously that would be driver’s left. On a road course you could be on driver’s left or driver’s right. The pole setter, the advantage is normally to be on the inside of the first turn. Now, when you get the green flag, the person on the outside could beat you into to that first turn, ok, but at least if you’re going in side by side I’d much rather be on the inside.
