What is a plurality and how does it differ from a majority?

Alright, say you have a parliment or congress, you have 5 parties. None of the parties get above 50 percent of the seats, but one gets say 39% of the vote, that is a plurality. All of the other parties can work together to defeat it. There are different examples. In a Parliment though, that party would have to form a coalition government to get an actual majority(50% or more). If that was too confusing, or to simple, let me know.
