What is a PLRG (Pollutant Load Reduction Goal)?

0

A PLRG is the amount of pollutant load reduction needed to render water fit for a given use. More specifically, PLRGs are the estimated numeric reductions in pollutant loadings needed to preserve or restore designated uses of receiving bodies of water and maintain water quality consistent with applicable state water quality standards. PLRGs can be used to establish water quality goals, to estimate in-lake nutrient processing, to examine current and historic conditions, etc. PLRGs can also be used to develop Minimum Flows & Levels (MFLs).
