Ping is a command line tool for Computers used to test if a particular host can be reached over the network. The following steps will help you perform the Ping Test The default IP address for your router is 192.168.0.1. If you wish to change you IP address, your new address can be used in place of the default. Ping Test: 1.Click the Start button at the corner of your windows desktop. On the pop up menu that appears, click the Run button 2.Type cmd into the Input field of the box that opens (or command in case of Windows 98). Click OK. 3.Press Enter 4.Type: ping 192.168.0.1(replace 192.168.0.1 with the IP address of the device you want to ping) 5.Press Enter If the ping times out, or the host or net are unreachable, the test failed. This means the router is not communicating with your computer. If the IP address you sent the pings to replies, the test has passed and the router is properly communicating with your computer.
