What is a pilot survey?

0

A pilot survey is a newly developed survey undertaken for the first time. This survey will undergo a testing period, at which time it will be evaluated for its effectiveness and accuracy in order to determine the feasibility of implementing the survey on an on-going basis. This pilot project is being conducted in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) and Ontario Ministry of Tourism (OMT) over the next three quarters and will be completed in December 2006. The pilot project will be considered successful if the indicators obtained from the survey closely predict actual statistical outcomes such as gross domestic product, employment, and business activity in the heritage institutions, performing arts, and recreation and entertainment industries. We therefore ask that you complete this survey once each quarter for the pilot period. If successful, we intend, in partnership with the Canadian Tourism Commission and Ontario Ministry of Tourism to make this survey permanent.
