What is a Phi Beta Kappa Association?
PBK Associations consist of previously elected members of Phi Beta Kappa (i.e., graduates). They do not elect new members. On the other hand, PBK Chapters are located at Colleges and Universities, and can elect new members. The first Association was founded in New York City in 1877. There are currently more than 65 PBK Associations around the country, made up of Society members in their geographic areas.
