What is a Personal Greeting?
The Personal Greeting is a message that you create during sign-up. Each time you make an online purchase at a participating store/retailer, you will be prompted to enter your SecureCode. At this time, you’ll see your Personal Greeting and other purchase details. The Personal Greeting is your assurance that you are communicating with your Maestro card issuer. If the Personal Greeting displayed in the pop-up box is incorrect, you should not enter your SecureCode, but should instead contact Customer Service immediately by calling the phone number on the back of your Maestro card, to report a possible fraud.
The Personal Greeting is a text message (6-30 characters long) that you select during registration. This text should be personal, however not secret. Each time a MasterCard SecureCode receipt will be presented to you by The First National Bank of Palmerton, you should look for the Personal Greeting – it proves it is a genuine receipt. Please note – you cannot select a Personal Greeting that will be identical to the SecureCode. Your SecureCode must be kept secret, while the Personal Greeting is openly displayed on the receipt.
When you activate MasterCard SecureCode during shopping, a pre-assigned personal greeting that MasterCard SecureCode had selected for you is displayed. When you pay online, always look for your personal greeting before you enter your SecureCode to ensure that you’re using the authentic MasterCard SecureCode service. After activating MasterCard SecureCode you receive an email message with a link. We recommend that you click on this link and create a new, truly personal greeting. Please note that your personal greeting must not be similar to your SecureCode.
