What is a “personal digital assistant” (PDA)?
Personal Digital Assistant’s (PDA’s) are handheld devices originally designed as personal organisers. PDA’s can be used as a clock and calendar, for sending and receiving email, for maintaining contact lists and also used to access the Internet. PDA’s are generally larger than mobile phones and have a larger screen. Some PDA’s audio capabilities enable them to be used as a mobile phone. PDA’s also come in a variety of operating systems (ie. the software that runs the device).
