What is a Personal and Career Development Plan (PCDP)?
The University introduced a Personal and Career Development Planning scheme in 2006 as part of the implementation of the Framework Agreement. A PCDP discussion is an opportunity to reflect on personal and career development aspirations both within and outside of the current role/department/organisation, bearing in mind the scope for development within the current role. It also presents an opportunity to identify areas of development required, to enable an individual to achieve their aspirations and realise their potential. There may be scope for a member of staff to develop their current role to incorporate additional areas of responsibility which satisfy their career development aspirations. However, this may not always be practicable or appropriate. Undertaking a PCDP will help individuals identify training and development activities to enable them to apply for other roles within the University, or beyond it.
