What is a permeable pavement ?
Permeable pavements are water storage devices which allow rainwater to infiltrate to the layers beneath the surface, in the same way a grassed area would behave. The rain water can then be stored under the paved area and can be pumped out of the system and reused or slowly discharged to the water courses, the gradual release of this water minimises its impact on the water bodies to prevent flooding.
