What is a performance-based marketing program?
In a performance-based marketing program, a publisher receives a commission for generating a sales transaction or a predetermined action, like signing up for a credit card or service, from a merchant that the publisher is promoting. The merchant makes it’s promotions available to publishers through a platform like Pepperjam and assigns a commission for each action. Publishers place the tracking code for these ads on their Web sites or in search listings. Whenever a visitor uses these links to generate a desired action on the merchant site, that transaction is tracked online. If a product or service is purchased, the customer pays the merchant directly, and the publisher is paid a commission for that transaction through a platform like Pepperjam.
