What is a Peer Health Educator?
The mission of the Peer Health Educator (PHE) program is to provide an effective peer network to encourage, support, and advance healthful living for all UP student’s. The PHE program facilitate health education and self-care among our UP students. The success of this program is due primarily to the collaborative commitments of the University Health Center and Residence Life including both students and staff who dedicate time and energy to the overall wellness of our campus population. The program includes education of the Peer Health Educators in the areas of nutrition, stress management, alcohol/other drug usage, relationship issues, eating disorders, immunization compliance, common cold and flu, learning disabilities, first aid, communication, confidentiality and much more. In turn, the Peer Health Educators will be educating peers and raising awareness of key health and wellness issues which affect our community.
