What is a Pedorthist and how can orthotics help me?
When you choose a Pedorthist, you take advantage of having a health professional specifically educated in the assessment of gait (walking/running), joint and strength testing, alignment and footwear analysis. Our Pedorthist can cast, manufacture, fit, and adjust orthotics and custom shoes. She is a member of the Pedorthic Association of Canada. Orthotics are inserts that you wear in your shoes, boots, or cleats. They can provide pain relief, stability and support, alleviate pressure and promote easier movement, and can accommodate foot deformities. Common conditions that orthotics can help include diabetes, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, high arches and flat feet, low back and knee pain and chronic ankle sprains. The cost of orthotics, shoes and adjustments vary.
