WHAT IS A PEACE GROUP?
All over the country in the past few years small groups of people have been coming together to address themselves to the question of the peace of the world. What do these groups stand for and what do they do? Perhaps an illustration of how one such group was formed and what they have actually done will be informative. One hot and humid evening in June of 1961 in a small town in upstate New York a group of average people gathered in a private home. Among them were a lawyer, two ministers, two teachers, two insurance men and a couple of housewives. They had come together to ask each other the question: What can we do, if anything, to help preserve peace for our nation and for the world? The first point of discussion centered on the issue of whether there. was enough interest in the issue of peace to form a new organization.
