What is a PBX telephone system?
PBX or “private branch exchange” is the name assigned to telephone system that is “normally” operated by a user dialing the digit “9” to access outgoing telephone lines. The lines are arranged in a “pool” in the central processor not on specific buttons on the telephones. Incoming calls are normally answered by a receptionist and then transferred to a specific telephone extension.
