What is a party whip?
A party whip is someone who is assigned by the party to whip its members into shape so that they vote on the policies that the party supports. There are majority and minority whips in the House of Representatives, with the majority representing the party in power and the minority representing the opposing party. The minority whip’s position is often comparable to that of the Speaker of the House.
