What Is A Parasaurolophus?
The Parasaurolophus was a dinosaur known for its duck-bill and the massive crest on its head. Scientists aren’t sure of what purpose the dinosaur’s oddly-shaped head served. It may have been a sort of trumpet to sound warnings or mating calls to its heard. Also, it probably gave the Parasaurolophus an acute sense of smell. The dinosaur was around 33 feet long and sixteen feet high. It weighed about 7,700 lbs. It was a vegetarian and could alternate between walking on two legs or four. It used a bipedal (two legs) gait for faster running. It has been found in North America. The Parasaurolophus had a part in the Jurassic Park movies. Unlike the dinosaurs Triceratops and Euoplocephalus, relatively incomplete remains have been found for Parasaurolophus. Therefore, its history is a bit sketchy. It is thought that there were three species, but only two have been established through incomplete skeletons.
