What is a PADI SCUBA Referral?
For some Broadreach programs, beginner SCUBA divers may need to take a short, pre-trip diving course at home to earn what is known as a PADI Referral. Every SCUBA certification course has three main sections: classroom/academic, pool training and open water certification dives. The term “Referral” refers to the certificate you receive when you complete just the classroom/academic and pool training portions of the course. Obtaining a referral before program is easy and generally takes one weekend or five three-hour training classes at a local dive center or store. The final certification dives are then done with Broadreach on program.
