What is a PABX and Key Phone System ?
Basically both are same. But normally a Key Phone system is a PABX with dedicated Operator Phone Console and has more features than a standard Program Controlled PABX system. The main advantage of having a Key Phone System over a normal PABX apart from the advanced features would be the availability of an Operator Phone which would facilitate the operator and other key personnel in knowing the incoming call, the status of the extension, activation of feature with a single button etc. As a rule of thumb, if an organization is not having many incoming / outgoing calls but mainly for internal calls, a standard PABX would serve the purpose. But if it is an organization with a high traffic rate, then a Key Phone system is suitable as it would make the Operators job much easier and would allow additional features for the users.
