What is a notie of imposition of civil assessment?
Penal Code Section 1214.1(a) allows the court to impose an additional penalty of $250.00 (called a civil assessment) against any defendant who fails to appear in court as ordered or who fails to pay all or any portion of a fine ordered by the court. A warning notice is sent to inform the defendant that if the defendant does not appear in court or pay the fine in full, the civil assessment will be imposed. This court imposes civil assessment on infractions only.
