What is a Normal Thyroid Level?
In May of 2009, U.S. laboratories began to use the normal reference range for a thyroid test as 0.5 to 5.0. They thyroid test is also known as the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) blood test; the TSH regulated the thryoid gland. People with hypthyroidism can have a TSH count between 5.0 and over 50 depending on the severity of the disease. People with hyperthyroidism usually have a TSH count under 0.2.
